Cash is the way
100WEEKS fights poverty using a simple yet very effective method: money
Giving people weekly cash donations, for 100 weeks with no strings attached, allows them to lift their families out of extreme poverty for good. Thousands of families worldwide have already escaped poverty through our program. As we scale up, so will tens of thousands more.
What we do
Donors give money.
100WEEKS targets people living in extreme poverty.
Selected beneficiaries receive training, and money on provided mobile phones.
100WEEKS collects data on progress and shares this with donors.
100 weeks of cash and training
People know best how to support their own family. By offering them a cash+ program that consists of temporary cash support and (financial) training in small savings groups, approximately 80% of 100WEEKS participants lift their families out of extreme poverty. And that is just the beginning.
A platform that links donors and women directly
We connect people, institutional donors and companies that care, with people living in extreme poverty. We monitor the impact of our intervention using cutting-edge survey technology, allowing us to collect data at low cost, and allowing you to see in detail the impact of your donation.
100WEEKS carries out two main programs
Out of Poverty program
The 100WEEKS ‘Out of Poverty’ program targets people living in extreme poverty and helps them develop sustainable sources of income through cash, training and membership of village savings and loan associations (VSLAs). The program’s impact is felt at both the individual and the community level.
Living Income program
The 100WEEKS ‘Living income’ program focuses on smallholder farmers who produce crops that sustain the value chains of large companies, e.g. coffee or cocoa. Supporting the smallholders with a combination of cash support and training, this program helps families bridge the gap to a living income through a temporary intervention.
This is only possible with your support
In the fight against poverty, we do not stand alone. Our donor-base has grown exponentially over the last few years as more and more people have learned about direct cash transfers. Join us in our effort to eradicate poverty for good!
Forging direct connections
100WEEKS is the only direct-giving organization that establishes a direct connection between its donors and recipients. We link our donors, both private and institutional, to one or more specific groups of women and keep them up to date on their development as they progress through the program. Our donors know the names of every person they give money to.
Training and savings groups
100WEEKS participants come together on a weekly basis in so-called village savings and loan associations (VSLAs) and receive training in financial literacy, entrepreneurship and life skills. The savings groups function as peer groups that provide social and emotional support.
100WEEKS on the ground
The 100WEEKS method is designed to be exponentially scalable. The essence of the program is a cash+ intervention that can be rolled out anywhere. We employ a minimum of ground staff, preferring to cooperate with existing organizations local to the countries we work in: Rwanda, Ghana, Uganda and Ivory Coast.
